Challenge

The needs of students, teachers, and schools are broad, yet specific. Many states in the U.S. have their own adoption and standards for each discipline. Texas is usually a bellwether state for publishers and instructional programs must meet their rigorous standards in order to be approved for adoption by school districts in the state. This makes Texas a high-stakes investment for all the publishers that participate. HMH needed a proven partner to help realize their vision for their new program.

Solution

To round out their new secondary Social Studies curriculum, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt partnered with Maps.com to create a white label version of our award-winning Maps101TM online service. The new site, Map Connections, was created and embedded into the learning management system to enable access through the Holt McDougal Online Dashboard. This allowed teachers unfettered access to the resources that the site provides.

Result

The Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Social Studies program was successfully launched and approved by the adoption committee and is being adopted by schools across the state.
